Walmart Connect (WMC) is seeking a seasoned Senior Director, Learning & Development to lead a high-performing team to scale our advertising, media, and marketing programs.
Responsibilities:
Oversees the functions of learning and development by driving the development of training content that delivers influential and persuasive communications and material; ensuring alignment on business objectives and customer needs; overseeing and ensuring the execution of project deliverables; ensuring the development of solutions; driving brand consistency and best practices; understanding and determining various media formats and delivery options; and acting as a subject matter expert for issues related to training content development and delivery.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
Directs and aligns divisional strategies by overseeing the research of learner needs, learning environments, knowledge gaps, and behavioral changes; leading the creation of blended learning options; analyzing needs analysis to determine future strategies; developing long term strategies to ensure training is integrated into business practices; ensuring the governance of learning content; and streamlining continuous improvement processes and practices to ensure alignment with stakeholders.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
Drives learning design, process improvements, and strategies by establishing best practices for various delivery modalities; acting as a subject matter expert for learning development and design strategies; ensuring the expansion of learning management capabilities; defining success measures for learning and development programs; and working cross-functionally with leadership in the other areas to ensure strategic alignment and project completion to support the business.
Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Oversees budgets and expenditures for learning and development programs, projects, and initiatives by supporting the development of budgets; providing data and guidance based on historical information to drive new budget allocations; ensuring project teams capture and report financial information; monitoring and tracking the status of budgets and financials; tracking target budgets throughout project lifecycles; and evaluating the budgetary impact of project modifications.
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Adult Learning, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Sales Training & Enablement, workforce development or related
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in people management or leadership position as a change agent for large scale teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree in Learning Design, Human Resources, or related field.
- 4+ years' experience with instructional design software.
- 4+ years' experience leading cross-functional teams.
- 4+ years' supervisory experience.
- Project Management certification.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279:The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00
San Bruno, California US-08848:The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00
Bentonville, Arkansas US-10883:The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
