Job Info

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks full-time faculty members at any rank to support its Temporary/Durable Mechanical Circulatory Support, Heart Failure, and Transplant Programs. Clinical responsibilities will include a focus on the management and expansion of the VA ECMO and Cardiogenic Shock Program as well as help support all other Cardiac Surgery programs at our Hyde Park location and affiliated offsite community practices and partner locations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of employee benefits) are dependent on qualifications.

Appointees will contribute to patient care and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion.

The University of Chicago Heart & Vascular Center has nationally recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and quality improvement in the Medical Center.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be BC/BE by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (or equivalent), and 4) have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in cardiovascular/thoracic (CVT) surgery.

We especially welcome candidates with a strong interest in program development, as it creates an excellent opportunity for appointees to undertake leadership roles including Surgical Director of the Transplant Program and Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Program.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/160969. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography and a cover letter. Review of applications will end when the positions are filled.
