About the job:

The Warehouse Team Leader overviews the order situation, focusing on containment and corrective actions during the order execution timeframe. The Team Leader is not a manager.

In this role, you will:

  • All responsibilities of Warehouse Team Member III
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with packing list and purchase orders to verify accuracy.

  • Receiving shipment data in system and note any damages or discrepancies
  • Put away or decant parts in the manual and automated warehouse
  • Pick parts from the manual and automated warehouse
  • Inventory control and research
  • Transport units from cell to cell

  • Able to perform advanced warehouse processes to include receive, put away, pick, pack, ship including, less than truckload (LTL), value add customer orders, complex international shipping and HAZMAT shipping
  • Build and assemble manufactured orders
  • Perform quality checks on products and parts
  • Drive the Alfa Laval Production System & continuous improvement within cell/area
  • Coordinate and support the daily work of the team/shift

  • Close competence gaps by training/ coaching and run audit dialogue in SOP
  • Monitor processes and performance in the team/shift
  • Be a link between the team, support functions and Team Manager
  • Control of quality, deviations and line stops together with Team Manager
  • Support operators/team members with immediate problem solving when needed

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS

Primary direction received from Team Manager. Team Lead must be proactive and independent in warehouse responsibilities and collaborative within department and with other departments/locations in resolving warehouse concerns. Team Lead has the authority to distribute tasks among team members and request assistance from support functions and other departments.

What you know:

You have a High School degree or Equivalent and 4+ years previous warehouse / material handling equipment experience, and:

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Computer skills (use of Microsoft Office applications)

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds occasionally
  • Equipment operation certification (Forklift, Order Picker, Turrett Truck)
  • Ability to stand for majority of the work day
  • Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):

  • Some hazardous material handling required
  • Certified in hazardous material handling and shipping required
  • Teach waste containment of spills and storage of hazardous goods

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Active participation in ALPS
  • Execute production work with SOP as a base

  • Lead problem resolution process improvements
  • Change & update SOP's
  • Always consider waste elimination
  • Perform 5S & Status Board Audits, participate in Safety Walks, and immediately call for TL in case of problems/risks
  • Responsibility to develop and inform him/herself

  • 49CFR and IATA Shipping Certified
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Ensure end of day activities are completed as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
