Position Summary

TheTeaching Assistant Professor and Academic Director of Health Informatics and Management Programming is responsible for credentials and industry partnerships in the Healthcare Management and Health Informatics programs. This role requires expertise in such areas as academic, clinical, and research environments. The primary responsibilitiesare overall program industry alignment, with an emphasis on learner experience from recruiting to alumni relations, developing internal and external partnerships and collaborations for both credit and noncredit offerings, and teaching.Thisposition reports to the Dean to ensure that the content of the various concentrations is current, high quality, and meets the needs of employers and learners. The Academic Director will work closely with cross disciplinary teams to assure quality course delivery, support advising, address learner issues, recruit and provide support to adjunct faculty, attract new learners to the program for credit and noncredit offerings, and build internal and external partnerships. The successful candidate must be willing to be part of, and promote, an inclusive team and work culture. The Academic Director is also assigned a teaching load per academic year. The role has an inherent responsibility to provide experiential learning advising to learners concerning their careers as appropriate. In addition, the Academic Director represents the College at University and community events. The position is a full-time, benefited position and is a non-tenured, appointed faculty position in the teaching series.

Essential Functions

TheTeaching Assistant Professor and Academic Director is responsible for the current programs within the University College Portfolio:

  • Healthcare Management
  • Health Informatics
Specific responsibilities with respect to these programs include:
  • Curricula assessment and updates
  • Work with a team for program course designs and redesigns
  • Recruit and work with health industry subject matter experts for course design
  • Recruit and work with health industry experts for instructor pool
  • Maintain a program advisory board with health industry leaders
  • Teach select courses within the programs
  • Review and approve learner applicants
  • Integrate real-world content and experiential learning into the learner experience
  • Promote internal and external workshops and events for both Instructor and learner development
  • Provide support for instructors and address instructor issues
  • Provide support for learners and address learner issues
  • Monitor learner and instructor experience using existing systems and collaborating with the teaching and learning specialists
  • Work with operations on annual schedule, course scheduling, and instructor assignments
  • Develop industry relationships to ensure the curricula are responsive to employer needs and current with respect to technologies and practices
  • Assist in identifying and executing new partnerships and collaborative opportunities in the health industry
  • Develop relationships with other University College Academic programs to enhance and promote cross-listed courses and experiential learning
  • Monitor and sustain program metrics for success
  • Assist with logistics of new program for-credit and non-credit offerings including planning and execution
  • Attend local and regional events for learner and instructor recruitment
  • Work collaboratively to operationalize strategic initiatives
  • Assist regarding marketing strategies, collateral, and digital media
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry specific professional associations
  • Participate in health industry board membership for selected collaborative projects

  • Knowledge of healthcare management, health informatics, and current industry trends, technologies, and practices
  • Knowledge of academic program development, assessment, and experiential learning principles

  • Proficiency in health industry analytics tools and data analysis methods

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in health-related industry, or other relevant discipline
  • Demonstrable expertise and mentorship in the health industry
  • Familiarity and proficiency with commonly used health industry methods and analytics tools
  • Strong management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Curricula development and evaluation experience
  • Experience with building, fostering, and sustaining industry partnerships
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of best practices in multiple modalities of course delivery
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to recruiting learners and instructors/employees from diverse and varied backgrounds
Working Environment
  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

  • Physical Activities
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

  • Work Schedule

    While the University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.     Two remote days per week. Limited Travel required.

    The salary grade for the position is UC.

    Salary Range:

    The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $97,000.

    The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
