Description: Our client is currently seeking a Sr Project Manager (IT PMO)
REMOTE but must sit in California.
6+ month contract role


Job Title: Senior Project Manager

General Description: The Senior Project Manager, under the direction of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) Portfolio Manager, oversees the direction, implementation, execution, control, and management of enterprise-wide projects. This role involves researching and developing new concepts, ideas, and applications to align with the credit union's strategy and goals, accelerating business value. The Senior Project Manager drives and implements innovative solutions across the enterprise, partnering with various business and technical teams to deliver iterative business value and achieve strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Initiative Management:
    • Lead divisional or enterprise initiatives with moderate to high complexity.
    • Guide project teams and business/technical partners to deliver value and achieve business strategies.
  • Program Communication & Administration:
    • Shape programs/projects to deliver business value with shorter iterations.
    • Monitor and incorporate industry, functional, or technology trends into programs.
    • Develop communication strategies and secure commitment for project decisions.
    • Define strategies for influencing decision-makers and overcoming resistance to change.
    • Guide communities of practice and project forums to address ongoing professional needs.
  • Program/Project Delivery:
    • Set project expectations and strategy, ensuring the development of change plans and financials.
    • Partner with teams to identify opportunities for reusable artifacts.
    • Lead teams to focus on business strategy and prioritize based on value delivery.
    • Manage ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and remove barriers within project teams.
    • Develop RFPs, analyze vendor responses, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Consultation:
    • Challenge and drive initiatives forward.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve emerging business needs.
    • Partner with leaders to align program vision and assess support requirements.
    • Develop business solutions that align with overall strategy.
    • Maintain understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Motivate and inspire teams to commit to shared purposes.
    • Promote team coordination and create a collaborative environment.
    • Provide guidance, feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Strategy and Analysis:
    • Coordinate and influence business prioritization to align with strategic goals.
    • Engage stakeholders to define measurable business value and benefits.
    • Analyze project trends and make recommendations for adjustments and contingency plans.

  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Project, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
    • Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
    • Strong research, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Customer-focused attitude and proactive work approach.
    Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science preferred. Advanced degree in Business Administration or related field is a plus.
    • Experience: Minimum eight years of combined experience in project analysis, coordination, and management, with at least five years of direct project management experience. Experience in financial institutions is preferred.
    • Knowledge/Skills:
      • Knowledge of financial products and services.
      • Familiarity with credit union products and operational guidelines.
      • Strong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
      • Ability to evaluate business objectives and develop action plans.
      • Familiarity with contractual language and negotiation.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged sitting and manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
    • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, with potential extended hours.
    • Availability to respond to smartphone 24/7.
    Organizational Contacts & Relationships:
    • Internal: All levels of staff and management, including Senior Management.
    • External: Members, vendors, suppliers, government agencies, industry associations, and peers at other financial institutions.
