Job Description

Location/Division Specific Information

This position will be site based in Rockford, IL and will support all Operations functions in the Protein and Cell Analysis business unit.

How will you make an impact?

The Senior PPI Specialist enables the implementation of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Continuous Improvement program known as PPI. In this role, we will work closely with site and business leadership to mature tiered daily management, Gemba walks, and leader standard work and other PPI coaching tools to drive a continuous improvement mentality. The position partners with team members to establish multi-year plans via strategy deployment tools (X-matrix/A3), builds a quantified future state and kaizen plan through value stream mapping, enables Key Performance Indicator Leadership, and develops PPI capability at various levels through training, qualification, and coaching.

What will you do?

  • Strategy Deployment: Partner with the site leadership team to identify ground-breaking opportunities to improve the business.
  • Site Engagement: Develop an action-biased culture of continuous improvement to improve critical metrics, in the areas of customer, finance, people and quality.
  • Developing Talent: Provide support to develop lean expertise and capability within the organization at all levels.
  • PPI Business System: Provide ongoing Lean support to multiple teams. Work with the expanded team to develop/promote/standardize the Business System further.
  • PPI Steering Committee: Prioritize improvement opportunities and develop site deployment plan. Lead/work with functional teams to streamline processes to improve the customer experience, enable profitable growth and become more efficient.
  • Daily Tiered Management: Improve the decision-making model and problem-solving capabilities within teams to increase autonomy and the pace of change.
How will you get here?

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, operations, business, or related field required. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

Experience
  • Preferred 7+ years of Lean leadership expertise with extensive experience implementing successful continuous improvement-based business systems including elements such as:
    • Lean Management System
    • Strategy Deployment and Value-Stream Mapping
    • Kaizen events on standard work, cell design, process and product 3P, Value-Analysis/Value Engineering, error-proofing, material flow, Heijunka, and Kanban.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong social skills and the ability to partner with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving applying a formal program/process.
  • Strong ability to develop, train, and mentor teams.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $93,800.00-$140,675.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
