We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager to join our team and lead our SHE initiatives at our manufacturing facility in Rancho Cordova, CA. The Senior SHE Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive SHE programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, administers, and directs occupational health and safety activities and staff providing effective direction, leadership, and team building by offering technical and administrative guidance on safety, health, and environmental issues and concept definitions, advising subordinates on health and safety technical and operational problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HSE considerations into operational processes, facility design, and product development.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to SHE staff, fostering a culture of SHE awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and coordinate training programs to educate employees on SHE policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure a safe work environment..
  • Interpret, execute, and recommend health and safety policy changes while coordinating with regulatory agencies and customer representatives, review and incorporate local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards, best practices, and customer requirements into AFC programs to ensure compliance, and establish management systems for multi-level functional groups.
  • Manage allocation and integration of department resources to meet commitments and objectives, including budget and schedule administration for health and safety programs and staff, and provide short- and long-range planning for health and safety operations, implementing approved plans.
  • Manage and conduct regular audits, and inspections to assess risks, as well as evaluate health and safety program effectiveness, implementing and overseeing corrective and preventive actions to close identified gaps.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, collective bargaining agreement representatives, and other SHE external stakeholders, including responding to regulatory agency intervention / inquiries, while coordinating health and safety functions with regulatory agencies, maintaining frequent contact with inter-organizational managers and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay current on knowledge of chemical processes, manufacturing equipment, and industrial hygiene and safety principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, while maintaining in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed changes in industrial health and safety regulations and legislation.
  • Lead and oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementation of subsequent corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on key SHE performance indicators to appropriate levels within the organization, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for risk mitigation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 7-10 years of experience in the related area, and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.3+ years managerial experience preferred
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
  • In-depth knowledge of SHE regulations, standards, and best practices in manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills including the ability to plan and coordinate the activities of assigned levels within the organization.
  • CFATS regulations desirable but not required.
  • Requires the understanding and/or use of chemical processes and manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to provide technical and administrative leadership to accomplish organization goals and commitments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills with the ability to adjust work style as needed to develop effective relationships with all levels of leadership, employees, and peers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the agility to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A strong work ethic with utmost integrity, self-starter, and forward-thinking planner.
  • Organized with a sense of urgency.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including ability to analyze metrics.
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems, data analysis tools, and reporting software.
CERTIFICATIONS and LICENSES
  • Professional certification (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM) a plus.
