RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Redmond, WA seeking a Software Design Engineer to be a part of the MS SQL performance team working on on-prem and AzureSQL software, focused on ensuring performance is optimal and competitive.Summary:The Software Design Engineer should be familiar with data structures and understand what makes a program optimal and performance oriented (they will not write code but should be able to understand the code and know which questions to ask to determine how it works). The Software Design Engineer should be very familiar with databases. They should understand structured query language (SQL), tables, indexes, kinds of logic, locks & spinlocks, etc. Some experience with hardware and processors is needed, the Software Design Engineer will do low level testing and benchmarking for machines that will be added to Azure to ensure they work as intended.REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience with SQL - knowledgeable about basic server and database interactions (the more they know about SQL databases the better)
- 2+ years of experience with coding logic - ideally be comfortable writing in at least one of the following: C#, Bash, C, C++, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Basic understanding of the different components that make up a computer and how those components interact
- Great problem solving, communication, and presentation skills
- Able to explain what they've found while testing
- Should be vocal about what they understand and what they don't understand
- Willing to ask questions to learn more
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
