Job Purpose/Summary:

Accountable for managing activities related to disaster and emergency operations across the enterprise. The ideal candidate would have experience in emergency management, plant and operations management, inventory, and data analysis. This role collaborates with each of our business segments to identify risks and plans for disaster preparedness, focused on business continuity and disaster assistance. This includes coordinating with emergency management offices where are plants operate to ensure plant operations and live operations to ensure Tyson's needs are met when utilities are interrupted. The role manages the Meals that Matter disaster relief program and equipment and builds partnerships with external non-profit and other voluntary organizations active in disaster (VOADs) to reduce risk and develop and execute appropriate disaster response and recovery activities. This role will be asked to coordinate all the internal and external resources available to support operations and communities during disaster response and recovery. In addition, this role will define and measure the risk and value created and communicate to senior leadership. Serves as the point of contact for media and communications needs related to disaster and response.

In addition to working on disaster and emergency operations, will work with the Director of Food Loss and Waste to drive further reductions in Food Loss and Waste, ensuring that excess food is known, and decisions are based in good financial, social, and environmental factors. Will provide guidance to business units, warehousing, and other teams with financial and environmental analysis and recommendations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Influences the future strategy of the overall business continuity risk and planning.
  • Develop and gain approval for disaster playbooks from executive leadership.
  • Provides guidance and advice to management based on deep subject matter enterprise.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships in the VOAD community - Red Cross, FEMA, Rubicon, and other volunteer agencies involved in disaster response.
  • Build partnerships with other for-profit companies who respond to disasters - Hy-Vee, McDonalds, Walmart, and many others.
  • Establish ongoing partnerships with state and local government emergency operations groups.
  • Focus on resource assessment across the business segments and enabling functions.
  • Leverages external industry relationships to represent Enterprise appropriately.
  • Responsible for communicating strategy and disaster response and recovery "storytelling" internally and externally.
  • Define business plans and strategies, evaluate alternative approaches, and work with plant operations management, transportation, supply chain, business units, and warehousing and Information Systems to implement emergency preparedness plans and manage response.
  • Partner with Director, Food Loss and Waste on improving the overall operations of the organization.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree with a preference in business administration, finance, or related field OR equivalent work experience required.

Experience: 5 years of business administration experience in operations, supply chain, warehousing operations inclusive of planning, data analysis and measurement. Experience in a management role working in a matrixed environment.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills including sharing ideas and information across diverse audiences and making presentations to drive business decisions. Confident and able to be influential and assertive. Ability to synthesize clearly and simplify complex information.

Special skills: Developing strong relationships with external and internal customers; candidate must have exceptional financial acumen and problem-solving skills; experience with developing and implementing work systems and processes related to business operations.

Travel: 4-12 domestic trips per year
