Job Description:


The Energy Team, focused on the Inflation Reduction Act, is currently fifty-five strong. As organizations navigate the tremendous energy transition underway from traditional energy toward clean energy and decarbonization, you will help them develop and finance key energy infrastructure projects.

You will work side-by-side with practice area leadership to serve clients who are developing and financing the energy infrastructure of the future, while playing a direct role in building the business within Baker Tilly and having a direct role in the firm's success. What You Will Do

  • Lead and help build a team of finance and project execution professionals in supporting prime and sub-recipients of the $27 billion greenhouse gas reduction fund ("GGRF"). Immerse in the field of Energy, learning about the companies, technologies, and systems that deliver energy resources.
  • Specifically support the standup of lending programs/green banks for clients looking to deploy capital into the areas of distributed energy resources, net zero housing and buildings, and electric vehicle infrastructure.
  • Review detailed financial models prepared by analysts for deal specific structuring elements and circumstances - this can include a wide range of technologies and incorporating multiple tax credit programs, government incentives, and non-traditional financing programs.
  • Assist in underwriting, due diligence, and closing on behalf of green lending organizations
  • Research industry topics and technical issues, compile data, and present findings.
  • Assist in energy and infrastructure focused analysis for thought leadership pieces.
  • Position is located in Washington, D.C. (acceptable alternates Chicago, Illinois; Austin, Texas)

Successful candidates will meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or energy-related field required. MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years experience with underwriting bank debt, energy project finance, and funding sources including the Production Tax Credit and Investment Tax Credit, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) required.
  • Understanding of structured finance concepts, distributed energy project financials and operating performance metrics.
  • Work with internal greenhouse gas fund origination team to calibrate financial products with market available pipeline to determine optimal product fit and to retain a robust pipeline of projects for clients in the green lending space to evaluate.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely execution of projects and workstreams
  • Attention to detail alongside a commitment to quality and confidentiality
  • Highly developed skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning in order to stay current on the Energy industry and applicable finance strategies.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed, and the ability to travel including overnight as necessary
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
