Global Discovery Pathology and Multimodal Imaging (GDPMI) team based in Cambridge, MA is committed to delivering project-focused solutions for all Sanofi research projects by providing integrated expertise in translational/comparative pathobiology, specialized histology, and innovative cellular, molecular and ex vivo/in vivo imaging through our agile, empowered, and collaborative team. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Scientist (Histotechnology and Molecular Pathology) to join our team. Main Responsibilities:

• Independently perform histological work including tissue trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining for preclinical and research projects, following laboratory SOPs.
  
• Work closely with pathologists, scientists, and management to execute approved procedure for individual projects and accurately document newly implemented protocols.
  
• Run automated tissue processors, autostainer and perform digital whole slide scanning, perform routine lab inspections, quality control of equipment and processes, and diligently troubleshoot technical operational issues.
  
• Provide histology support for molecular assays (IHC, IF, ISH) and spatial technologies.
  
• Communicate with internal and external collaborators to manage prioritization, timelines, samples collection, accurate registration and tracking in our LIMS.
  
• Provide study progress through active communication using our department project management tool.
  
• Support laboratory operations and outsourcing.
  

About You

Requirements:

• Master's Degree plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting OR Bachelor's Degree plus minimum 6 years of relevant research experience in an academic or biopharmaceutical setting.
  
• Certification in histotechnology (HTL) is preferred.
  
• Demonstrated knowledge of modern histology laboratory workflow including automated processing, staining, slide scanning and laboratory information management system (LIMS) and familiarity with digital pathology applications such as HALO, Visiopharm etc...
  
• Hands on experience in handling fixed laboratory animal tissue specimens, sectioning (FFPE and frozen) and expertise in tissue microarray (TMA) technology
  
• Experience in necropsy assistance and tissue sampling in rodent model in-vivo studies.
  
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to work with matrixed teams in a diverse, collaborative and fast paced environment.
  
• Ability to adapt to the constantly evolving portfolio priorities.
  
• Excellent organizational skills.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with brightfield tissue slide scanning (Aperio).
  
• Experience with automated and/or manual tissue-based molecular assays (IHC, IF and ISH).
  
• Experience with histology workflow for spatial platforms preferred.
  
• Previous histology experience working with microphysiological systems is a plus.
  
• Vibratome sectioning experience.
