Science Communications Intern Spring 2025

This paid internship is designed to offer a comprehensive experience within a communications team at a world-leading research institution.

Responsibilities include:

  • Social media content production:
    • Assist in developing and curating engaging social media content that highlights research activities and achievements.
    • Support the management of social media platforms by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding to inquiries.
  • Science writing:
    • Write compelling and accessible articles about ongoing scientific research for a broad audience.
    • Collaborate with researchers to accurately convey complex scientific concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Graphic and visual design:
    • Create and edit multimedia elements, including graphics, videos, and infographics, to support research communication efforts.
    • Work closely with the team to ensure that multimedia content aligns with the institute's branding and messaging.
  • Internal communications:
    • Compile and distribute newsletters and other internal communications materials to keep the research community informed and engaged.
    • Assist in the coordination of internal events and announcements related to research initiatives.


Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree (or recent graduate within 1-2 years post degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Health, Public Relations, or Marketing
  • Must possess excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate professionalism and willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with AP style and/or journalistic writing a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multitask
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, creative and self-motivated
Requirements:
  • Able to work 2-3 days per week for 10 or more weeks between January and May
  • This is a remote position - must be available to work during East Coast business hours
