Baer is looking for an SAP Procurement Consultant for a 12-month Federal remote project.

Project Overview:

Our client is leading the technical upgrade of their critical Financial and Procurement systems for a major branch of the Department of Defense (DoD), transitioning from SAP ECC to S/4 HANA. The project focuses on a fit-to-standard approach, minimizing customizations and aligning with S/4 HANA's standard configuration. Key efforts include defining requirements for the upgrade and supporting business process re-engineering.

Description:

We are seeking an experienced SAP Procurement Consultant to support the fit-to-standard evaluation and process alignment for procurement and inventory management. Responsibilities include:

• Analyzing and optimizing end-to-end procurement processes, including requisitioning, purchase orders, vendor management, and invoicing, ensuring compliance with federal government policies and regulations.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to conduct fit-to-standard workshops, identifying gaps and optimizing processes with minimal customization.
• Configuring and enhancing SAP MM (Materials Management) modules to streamline procurement activities and improve inventory management efficiency.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify process gaps, and develop solutions that leverage S/4 HANA best practices.
• Supporting the integration of procurement processes with other modules such as Finance (FI).
• Conducting data analysis and reporting to optimize procurement strategies, improve supply chain visibility, and support decision-making processes.
• Providing expertise in inventory management, including stock levels, inventory turnover, and material forecasting to ensure readiness and cost optimization.
• Leading testing, training, and change management activities for procurement processes to ensure a smooth transition to S/4 HANA.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience of SAP Procurement experience with a strong focus on end-to-end procurement processes and inventory management.
• 9+ years of relevant SAP experience including 6 years of experience leading business systems modernization/sustainment and related projects.
• Proven experience with S/4 HANA implementations, particularly in procurement and inventory optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP MM module and its integration with other SAP Finance modules.
• Strong understanding of fit-to-standard methodologies and their application in public sector projects, preferably in federal or defense environments.
• Demonstrated ability to configure and optimize procurement workflows, including vendor management, sourcing, and contract management.
• Proficiency in analyzing procurement data, generating actionable insights, and improving process efficiency.
• Bachelor's Degree in appropriate technical field from an accredited institution. An additional (2) years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Professional IT Certification - CISA (or similar) or Certification in one or more relevant SAP Modules.
• Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Public Sector, or government regulated industry experience (i.e.: Aerospace & Defense) experience required.
• Interim or Active Secret Clearance Required.
