Position Summary
The purpose of this role is to coach and lead a team of Over-the-Road Drivers and Yard Drivers and work cross-functionally with the Service Operations Manager, White Wood Sales team, and Logistics Analysts, to prepare a freight schedule based on customer needs, finished pallet inventory, empty trailer availability, and pallet cores pick up requests.

Areas of Accountability
Lead a team of Over-the-Road Drivers and Yard Drivers
• Coach and lead the Over-the-Road Drivers and Yard Drivers in accordance with our core values.
• Drive accountability through effective performance management, build teamwork and camaraderie between departments, coach and develop direct reports, instill core values and drive engagement within the team.
• Confirm finished pallet deliveries are made on time and pallet cores are picked up in a timely fashion from customers, as well as provide customers with empty trailers as needed.
• Ensure Rehrig values are at the forefront of all decision making and collaboration.

White Wood routing/scheduling
• Create efficient daily transportation schedules and routes, looking at least one day out, based on:
• Regional traffic knowledge, truck routes, scales, and load weight restrictions to ensure cost efficiency. Must be aware of where empty trailers are and when/where they may need to be dropped on the route.
• The order from the JDE system of customer•s Finished Pallet needs input by the Logistics Analyst.
• Inventory availability provided by RLC Plant Managers.
• Knowledge of loading/unloading requirements at all customer locations and along routes to minimize shuffling of loaded product.
• Pallet cores to pick up from customers, taking into consideration the load order of products on the trailer.
• Customer empty trailer needs.
• Ensure schedules are set and hold drivers/carriers accountable to meet the needs of our internal and external customers along with ensuring they provide paperwork (BOL•s/POD•s) for billing.
• Work collaboratively with departments when schedules are not met or changed.
• Create solutions to meet customer needs.
• Adjust and rework schedules as customer needs are variable from day-to-day and week-to-week.

DOT and Safety Compliance
• Stay current with DOT regulations.
• Ensure DOT regulations are being met, including but not limited to driver hours of service, load weights, and drivers are providing pre-trip inspections.
• Ensure drivers have all up to date licenses and medical documentation as required by DOT.
• Monitor Rehrig Pacific Company-owned trucks and trailers to ensure they are inspected, locatable (Verizon Connect), and in good working order. Create a process to ensure compliance.
• Provide Safety leadership and support strategy that aligns with our goal of Zero recordable injuries
• Lead by example and drive accountability for Safety within the plant

Administrative Tasks
• Enter PO•s into JDE system for pallet cores and heat treat pallets.
• Ensure the up-to-date schedule is available on SharePoint.
• Interact and communicate timely and effectively with multiple departments within RSO:
• Monitor various communication vehicles for information of orders, inventory, empty trailer location, empty trailer drop off locations and unexpected changes/requests.
• Provide coverage when the Office Administrator is out of the office.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 2+ required experience in transportation as a dispatcher
• JDE Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience preferred
• Strong organization and prioritization skills required
• Ability to make quick adjustments to meet scheduling changes
• Strong communication skills with internal and external customers and drivers
• Must be •big picture• thinker to cover a wide range of sites, areas, and customer locations
• Must be able to start shift early morning and may work outside of normal business hours when needed
• Must be a problem solver
