This position is meant to assist laboratory research done in the Gene Therapy Center-Li Lab, with focus on the use of viral vectors, specifically AAV. The position will be geared towards helping to prepare and maintain the lab as well as aiding ongoing research projects with current lab personnel.
Specific duties include:
* maintaining lab supplies
* disposing of hazardous waste
* preparing common lab solutions
* preparing glassware/tips, etc.
Research opportunities may include:
* plasmid preparation and purification
* cloning
* transformation
* PCR
* cell culture
* making virus
* other specialized methods as required to assist specific projects
Depending on the demonstrated abilities of the applicant, there will be opportunities for semi-independent research.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Applicant must be able to do basic laboratory calculations to make chemical solutions. Applicant must be able to lift heavy objects, up to 10 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicant must be able to work using proper aseptic techniques.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Prior lab experience is preferred. Applicant must be able and willing to work safely with hazardous materials.
