Work type: CE - Clinician Educator
Location: Stanford University
Categories: School of Medicine

The Division of Radiation Therapy in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University seeks a board eligible or board certified radiation oncologist to join our faculty, open rank, in the Clinician Educator line. This position will involve general radiation oncology practice and practice building at our outreach network site, Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center (SEROC) in Turlock, CA.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

The successful applicant should possess an M.D., will have completed their residency in an ACGME-accredited program, and have medical licensure in California by the start date.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong experience in clinical care and program building at an outpatient cancer center setting. We expect the successful candidate to work with the department to further develop the treatment programs at the Turlock site, while providing clinical care for patients. SEROC is a two full-time physician practice. S/he will work to expand the practice by facilitating referrals, initiating and participating in local tumor boards, and identifying patients for clinical trial participation.

Experience in multi-modality treatment planning (e.g. PET, 4D CT, MRI) and interest in image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), is desired. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art equipment, including TrueBeam and Trilogy linear accelerators. A new TrueBeam is slated to replace our Trilogy later this year. Experience in HDR brachytherapy is desired; we are only 1 of 2 sites in CA with a Bravos HDR unit. A new Siemens CT simulator was installed late last year. The physics support is provided by Stanford Physicists. As a faculty member of Stanford Radiation Oncology, the successful candidate will have full access to all Stanford tumor boards and complete support of Stanford faculty chart rounds. In addition, the candidate will be able to refer patients for advanced treatment modalities at our main cancer center in Palo Alto, including Cyberknife, Reflexion BgRT, and our Viewray MRIdian.

Located in California's Central Valley, Turlock is the second largest city in Stanislaus County and provides an excellent cost of living while within reach of the metropolitan San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, as well as the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Yosemite National Park (two hours away).

Turlock is also optimally located to easily access Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles, and Napa Valley.

Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford also welcomes applications from others who would bring additional dimensions to the University's research, teaching and clinical missions.

The Radiation Oncology Department, School of Medicine, and Stanford University value faculty who will help foster an inclusive academic environment for colleagues, students, and staff with a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and outlooks. Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these ideals. Additional information about Stanford's IDEAL initiative may be found here: https://ideal.stanford.edu/about-ideal.

Candidates are asked to submit their CV, a brief cover letter, and a list of three references to apply.

Note: All applicants must apply via the Stanford Faculty Positions posting, created in FSAT. It is not possible to accept applications via email.
