Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:UNC Police supports the University's core mission of teaching, research, and public service by developing partnerships that, through the encouragement of problem-solving and communications, seek to identify and address public safety needs with professionalism and integrity, all while protecting North Carolina's future.
Position Summary:High School diploma and sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to work under pressure. Additional Education and Experience will be necessary for progressive steps (Journey and Advanced). Requires certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator or the ability to achieve certification within 45 days of employment. May require Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Requires certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator. Requires Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Previous Emergency Communications Dispatch experience and computer experience
Special Physical/Mental Requirements:Applicant must meet physical requirements of the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards including physical examination and drug screening. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with or without an accommodation.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
