Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Metallurgist with a focus in cold rolled steel sheet or galvanized sheet steel experience. Principal duties of the successful candidate will include:
- Participating in safety and housekeeping efforts
- Lead process optimization activities, both quality and cost
- Provide technical support and training for all operational activities
- Utilizing statistical process control tools to direct continuous improvement activities
- Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure continuous improvement
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have metallurgical knowledge and 5 years minimum experience with steel sheet products
- Must have experience handling claims and interfacing with customers
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent steel production experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems
- Experience with coordinating and executing trials, dispositioning material, reporting data, and improving quality
- Experience as a mill metallurgist
- Experience with customer support, both internally and externally
