Pratt Regional Manager - Southeast Region
Mueller, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, is seeking an experienced Sales professional to oversee our specialty branded products in the assigned region, which includes the Pratt, Milliken and Singer branded product lines. This role will report to the Vice-President, OEM, Contractor, and Rep Network Sales.
The Southeast Region encompasses 8 states: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, & Virginia (excluding DC area).
This exempt-level sales position has both direct sales responsibility in the assigned territory as well as management of assigned manufacturer reps. Primary sales are directed toward established distributors, contractors, and end users within the region. Working under the direction of the Vice-President, OEM, Contractor and Rep Network sales along with the Southeast Mueller Infrastructure Regional Manager and Singer National Sales Manager, the Regional Manager is provided the opportunity to learn or expand upon their knowledge of the water/wastewater plant treatment & distribution industry and sales knowledge/strategies, all while earning a competitive base salary, sales incentives, and full benefit package.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Call on consulting engineers, end users and OEM's to promote new and existing product lines to develop a favorable specification position.
- Work with Manufacturer Representatives throughout the assigned region to grow and expand product usage.
- Provide complete service to established distributors, contractors and end-user network including quotations, product training, technical and literary support, product complaint, inventory forecast, and delivery issues.
- Perform product training for representatives, end users and distributors to promote advantages of Mueller product and enhance specification position.
- Develop cooperative relationships with key distributors, contractors, manufacturer's representatives, OEM and end user personnel to enhance product demand.
- Assist Mueller Sales team in promoting Pratt and Milliken-branded distribution products.
- Skill and experience in negotiating, sales data collection and analysis
- Establish sales goals and specification objectives to meet company sales objectives.
- Identify significant bid opportunities and provide complete project information, including price strategy.
- Actively participate in trade organizations to promote assigned products.
- Provide Vice President, OEM, Contractor, Rep Network sales monthly sales report, sales forecast, and market overview.
- Provide valuable market feedback to the sales, product management, engineering, and marketing teams.
- Participate in Pratt and Singer Rep Councils.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the manufacturer's rep organizations on an ongoing basis from the standpoint of time devoted to the company, response to company inquiries, territorial coverage, general effectiveness and competence--and offer recommendations on changes to ensure meeting of objectives.
- Utilization of Salesforce.com and strategic selling
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of Five (5) years' experience in the water/wastewater or distribution industry or related field (valves, construction, piping, etc.).
- Geographical residence in the assigned region near an airport.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and other technology-based productivity tools (i-Squared, McGraw Hill (Dodge), Salesforce.com, or other CRM based software.
- Valid driver's license with no major violations.
- Ability to routinely travel 70% of work schedule (estimated 3-4 days/week of travel with one office day).
- Ability to cover large geographical sales region.
- Intermediate computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs.
- High level of outgoing interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Comfortable with public speaking engagements and the ability to deliver presentations to large (30+) groups of customers and other external contacts. Have ability to stand and give presentations for extended periods of time.
- Self-starter with get it done attitude.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior direct sales management experience in the water/wastewater industry
- Bachelor's degree in technical field (engineering, water technology, etc.)
- Mechanical aptitude.

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday. Overtime and travel will be required on a semi-frequent basis. This position is Salaried Exempt and does not qualify for overtime pay.
