The Department of Psychiatry has multiple exciting opportunities for two Post-doctoral Associates to work on the UHealth Campus. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff (headed by Professor Claes Wahlestedt). Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. The ideal applicant, working with Drs. Claes Wahlestedt, Claude-Henry Volmar and Zane Zeier, will have a unique skill set and a deep molecular understanding of human disease related biological systems and associated drug and biomarker discovery. Priority areas are neuroscience (esp. Alzheimer's disease and addiction), cancer and rare genetic disorders.

CORE FUNCTIONS

• Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  
• Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  
• Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  
• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  
• Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards

CORE REQUIREMENTSS

• Ph.D. or M.D. required
  
• No prior experience required, Molecular biology, genomics, pharmacology, bioinformatics, disease physiology, drug screening, target identification, and animal disease modeling are among the desired skill sets.

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
