Position Summary:

The Antoniak lab focuses on preclinical models of different cardiovascular diseases with emphasis on the role of protease-activated receptors (PARs), coagulation proteases and platelets in innate immune responses during viral myocarditis and influenza infection. Furthermore, the lab works on protease-activated receptors in different cardiac injury models such as chemotherapy-induced heart failure.
As a member of the UNC Blood Research Center, we are part of a highly collaborative, dynamic, and stimulating research group that makes feasible multidisciplinary research, ensuring an outstanding postdoctoral training experience.
This lab has open positions for two projects:
1) The role of blood coagulation, coagulation-dependent signaling and platelets in viral infections of the heart and lung.
2) Coagulation-dependent signaling in chemotherapy-induced heart failure.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

A PhD and/or MD required.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Strong experience in molecular and cellular biology as well as animal models of human diseases are desirable. Background in immunology, virology or important cardiovascular diseases (heart failure models) is an advantage. Knowledge in blood coagulation, platelet, PAR or RNA virus biology are beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

A strong background in cell culture, isolation of immune and cardiovascular cells, real-time PCR, ELISA, Western blots, biochemical assays and mouse models are essential skills for the position.
The successful candidate(s) will have excellent written and verbal English communication skills and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Eligibility to apply for NIH Training Grants would also be a distinct advantage.
