Position Title:Outreach and Engagement Librarian

Position Summary:This librarian position leads the Outreach and Engagement initiatives for Oesterle Library.
Description of Key Responsibilities:1. Outreach and Engagement Duties
- Develop and execute annual programming calendar for Oesterle Library with assistance from other library staff.
- Coordinate with other Learning Commons departments, campus departments, and the broader community on programming opportunities.
- Maintain balance of academic and extracurricular programs
- Advertise and promote programs.
- Record statistics and perform assessment of programs and related outreach activities.

Marketing Duties
- Maintain Oesterle Library social media accounts.
- Develop and follow calendar of social media posts for programs and other library services.
- Coordinate promotional materials (print, online, etc) for Oesterle Library.
- Consistently follow college branding guidelines, in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications.

General Librarian Duties
- Serve as liaison to various academic departments. Participate in reference services, subject-specific library instruction, and collection development.
- Teach or assist with the teaching of course integrated library instructional sessions, which may include team-teaching.
- Prepare instructional materials in a variety of modalities, maintain content in digital tools like LibGuides, and collaborate with others when appropriate.
- With the Director's approval, may participate in library grant applications.
- Cooperate as a team member with the library services staff in performing any duties essential to efficient library operations.
- Attend seminars and training sessions to improve or update position-oriented skills and knowledge, when appropriate and funds permit.
- Participate in local, state, and national library organizations, when appropriate and funds permit.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:An individual in this position must possess the proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality service to both internal and external constituents of the College.

- Demonstrated experience in development and maintenance of digital instruction materials.
- Reference experience and knowledge of reference tools, automated systems, online searching and information technology is required.
- Ability to communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing, in a manner which will reflect positively on the College.
- Dedication to the diversity of ideas and services in an academic setting.
Distinguishing Characteristics:In conjunction with the Director of Library Services, the individual in this position will lead outreach to the North Central College and the larger community and engage that community through dynamic programming and events. The individual in this position must cooperate as a team member with the library staff in performing duties essential to efficient library operations. All librarians have subject liaison responsibilities, which include collection development, instruction, and relationship building with faculty. Librarians also participate in reference services and instruction to General Education courses. Because the duties of this position require extensive personal interaction with students, faculty, staff, and the community, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Education/Training:Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required.
Experience:Outreach and engagement experience in a public or academic library is strongly preferred. Teaching or library instruction experience is strongly preferred. Collection development experience in an academic library setting is preferred.
