Position Summary:

  • The Offshore Service team in Siemens Gamesa is responsible for the commercial and contractual delivery of large-scale NERC Compliant Offshore Windfarms. The Offshore Service Organization in North America is currently recruiting for a Operational Readiness Project Manager leading the onsite readiness for Offshore Service projects
  • A successful candidate will have the knowledge and experience in both Offshore Operations, Offshore Direct Drive experience and knowledge of the PM processes required to successfully prepare large scale offshore wind projects.
  • The Operational Readiness Project Manager will be based out of Virginia Beach, VA and during the ramp up phase of the project will be the key interface between the existing site team, the regional and global support teams, and the Turbine Supply team and will own and develop the Service Execution Policy.
  • The role is based on a standard Mon-Fri working pattern but as the project matures will require frequent and extended time living and working offshore on the projects Service Operation Vessel.
  • The position requires upto 25% travel.
  • Relocation may be offered for this role should it be necessary.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for the scoping, planning, and delivery of operational improvement projects under a Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Responsibility in coordination with the Operational Excellence team to drive standardization and embed a continuous improvement culture within Offshore North America
  • Advise, guide & support (in person and remotely) the site based operational teams on what and how to implement standardized daily working procedures.
  • Prepare and lead in person or online workshops to support effective communication and problem-solving processes.
  • Responsibility for coordination and implementation of operational & technical improvements in conjunction with Global functions to facilitate the digital transformation within service region.
  • Drive data analytics and management reporting to support decision making.
  • Support the development and operational translation of Key Performance Indicators into action centered responses.
  • Drive and develop the operational and technical competence of the site-based organization.
  • PM responsible for the readiness program - Recruitment, Training & Competence and contractual.
  • Manage risk and opportunities to ensure profit margins are maintained or exceeded as against as sold position.
  • Development of offshore O&M strategies for SOV & CTV operated wind farm.
  • Deep understanding of SGRE Wind Technician Competency Framework.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • 3-5 years Offshore wind operations field experience management
  • Strong Knowledge of Direct Drive technology, ideally from a field-based position (Technician, Senior Technician)
  • Experience in the on-site ramp up of offshore projects.
  • Up to 25% travel post-COVID.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver's license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks of their license.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • Instrumentation related to SCADA /Control systems.
  • Understanding of basic wind turbine components and functions
  • Wind farm/ Energy SCADA experience
  • Strong communication & negotiation skills. Team-player mind set. Strong quality & organization orientation. Demonstrates initiative and result oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
