Job Title:Manager, Grants & Contracts Post-AwardDepartment:Medicine | Grants Office

Serves as a Lead Grants & Contracts Specialist over a team working on post-award activities in the College of Medicine Grants Management Office (GMO); creates an inspiring team environment and motivates team members to achieve peak productivity and performance; sets clear team goals; oversees day-to-day team operations; delegates tasks and set deadlines; monitors team and reports on metrics; provides informal feedback on an ongoing basis and formal feedback in the annual performance review process; assists the Assistant Director, Post-Award and the Director with strategic planning; assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of policies; manages and administers complex post-award activities for assigned departments and principal investigators (PIs) for national, local, private and public funding agencies; controls and oversees fiscal management of grants within minimal direction; ensures that expenditures are in line with project budgets; reviews, analyzes and reconciles project fiscal reports identifying and resolving discrepancies; reviews and approves expenses for appropriateness as stipulated by sponsor guidelines; collaborates with principal investigators and funding sources to identify opportunities to reallocate expenditures to ensure the budget and funding are maintained; provides strategic leadership, direction and expertise in post award reporting; reviews grant awards to ensure issuance is in accordance with negotiations; actively participates with preparation and submission of research progress reports; interprets and ensures compliance with sponsor, university and third party regulations; participates with training of new PIs and their staff; provides forecasts to aid PIs with strategic planning of research programs; advises and collaborates with PIs with effort certification; directs and oversees close-out of projects; communicates metrics and other fiscal information to leadership; creates, reviews and updates principal investigator orientation and training materials; implements and disseminates internal policies; attends relevant national or regional professional development conferences; participates in pre-award activities as needed; works closely with pre-award grant managers

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Education Desired

Certified Research Administrator (CRA) preferred. Advanced degree in relevant field preferred.

Required Qualifications

5 years of relevant experience required.
