The Development and Community Advisory team serves clients nationwide. This position offers the chance to work remotely, with office time expected as determined by the team's needs.
What you will do:
This role includes intermediate analysis, project management, and client-facing work across the spectrum of our practice areas which includes economic analysis and strategy; urban development and planning; real estate transactions; housing planning and strategy; community development; equitable growth; incentive program development; workforce and labor analysis; and public-private-nonprofit real estate project strategy and implementation.
In this role you will:
• Collaborate with internal and external project teams, independently and strategically to advance project opportunities, implement timelines and develop recommendations for project content.
• Lead in project management and client relationships, aligning project teams with client needs and ensuring client satisfaction with our work.
• Develop in-depth knowledge of clients' existing conditions and needs and develop solutions through direct client interaction while working on multiple aspects of an engagement. Guide research and document writing; lead in guidance of communication in written and presentation formats.
• Guide project deliverables, memos, presentations, and final reports for delivery to the client, documenting and reviewing engagement work papers in accordance with project needs and industry- acceptable methodologies.
• Act as a valued business advisor, build relationships and communicate effectively with the client to provide superior client service.
• Support other teams within the DCA business unit by providing real estate transactions support, including but not limited to, due diligence, underwriting, and financial modeling.
• Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews.
• Perform project management duties - oversee work plan execution, provide periodic internal and client facing status reports, generate invoices and manage the project budget, oversee development and distribution of deliverables, and manage day-to-day communication and coordination with client team.
• Lead professional and effective presentations to internal and external audiences.
• Continue to develop knowledge and experience working with various technology environments, platforms, applications, and tools/utilities.
• Attend professional development, networking events and training seminars. Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.
• Utilize entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue.
• Invest in professional development individually and through participation in firmwide learning and development programs.
Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree within business, economics, urban planning, finance, or public administration, relevant master's degree desirable but not a requirement.
• 10+ year(s) experience with relevant work experience and specific knowledge in areas of focus with either private or public sector.
• Knowledge, skills and passion for the principles and practice connected to real estate, development, and redevelopment.
• Experience in real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and asset management, with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple projects.
• Deep knowledge of real estate markets, trends, and asset classes, with the ability to forecast market dynamics and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Experience as a client serving professional desired.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling software, and property management systems (e.g., Yardi, ARGUS).
• Strong understanding of real estate law, zoning regulations, tax implications, and compliance requirements.
• Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication, collaboration, and time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task, work well independently in a fast-paced environment and be highly self- motivated.
• Motivation to work extended hours and travel as needed to meet the needs of clients and growth of the national practice.
