Job Description Summary

Position is responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance measures, and operating repair, cutting or welding equipment to complete the job.

Job Description

  • Responsible for working in a safe and orderly manner while in the plant on the plant property.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds and views machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related steam and refrigeration, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drills, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires advance knowledge of the factory equipment. This individual must have a minimum of one year experience in a maintenance position, must have their own set of hand tools (on good quality, list available upon request), and must be able to work with a minimum of supervision. Must also demonstrate the ability to maintain the level of performance.

Language skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.

Mathematical skills:

Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers.

Reasoning ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
