Under direction of the Level II Magnetic Particle Inspection Operator or the Supervisor this individual is responsible for the set up and operation of magnetic particle inspection, Rockwell Hardness inspection, chemical analysis, plating thickness inspection, demagnetizing components, and related processes in order to assure components meet the required quality specifications. This employee, who has been qualified to NAS 410 Level I is responsible for the set up and operation of such equipment and instrumentation as a magnetic particle and magnetic analysis units, Rockwell Hardness testers, micrometers and verniers.

Must have the skills and knowledge to process parts and perform equipment standardization in accordance with Heim Work Instructions. Additionally must be able to correctly and efficiently carry out any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection in accordance with Heim MPI Technique sheets and Work Instructions. Must follow written instructions contained in the Heim MPI Technique sheets and Work Instructions.

Level II:

  • Individual shall have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate product for acceptance/rejection and document results
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of MPI
  • Be familiar with codes, standards and other contractual requirements to control the MPI utilized at Heim Bearings
  • When specified, be capable of developing written instructions from approved Heim Bearings procedures
  • Have basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology.
This position will also act as a backup in the inspection department and will perform complete inspection operations on a variety of bearing components and finished assemblies. Must be able to read and interpret complex drawings and perform inspection operations on incoming work, in-process, and finished components and assemblies.

This individual must take and pass an annual eye exam and have unimpaired or corrected vision, be able to write in English in order to proper produce required reports. This individual's work is subject to periodic inspections by the FAA, ISO, various internal and customer audits. Will train others in the department as required.
