SUMMARY

Environmental Management, Inc. (EMI), a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, seeks a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our team as a Consulting Environmental Project Manager/Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP). EMI is a leading environmental consulting firm dedicated to providing exceptional service to our clients while promoting sustainable practices and protecting the environment. The Consulting Environmental Project Manager/QEP will oversee an appropriate caseload of client projects and collaboratively make decisions on project scope and resource allocation. They will also be required to perform a various field work on an as-needed basis. The Consulting Project Manager/QEP reports directly to the Consulting Operations Manager.The Environmental Project Manager/Qualified Environmental Professsional may also collaborate with other BSNC subsisdiaries on environmental projects on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with the Consulting Program Manager and Operations Manager to ensure effective project coordination and execution.
  • Act as Project Manager for an appropriate caseload of client projects.
  • Perform field work as needed, including contaminated site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and hazardous building material surveys.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and provide valuable insights and recommendations regarding project updates and changes.
  • Assist in identifying project opportunities and deciding project scope and resource allocation.
  • Assist in providing client proposals and securing client projects.
  • Act as Project Manager for an appropriate caseload of client projects.
  • Compose proposals, develop and implement project budgets, prepare work plans, execute projects, perform fieldwork as needed, document and report field activities, liaise with regulatory agencies, communicate with clients, prepare technical reports, and provide technical support.
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of projects per the defined scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Contribute to various projects in environmental assessment and remediation, hazardous materials management, health and safety oversight, and natural resource planning and permitting.
  • Demonstrate professional communication skills through oral, written, digital, or visual forms to effectively collaborate with project professionals, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality work products that meet industry standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends through training, professional publications, and workshops.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Colaborate with other BSNC subsidiaries on environmental projects.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Experience, Education, and Certification
  • Accredited PhD/MS/MA/BS/BA in a science or engineering field related to the environmental area of study, such as chemistry, biology, environmental, geology, mechanical, physics, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must meet the requirements of a Qualified Environmental Professional as presented by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) under 18 Alaska Administrative Code (AAC) 75.333.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental project experience.
  • Experience with Alaska regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Experience with government contracts and working with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and/or U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) preferred.
Location and Commitments
  • Onsite, in-person position at our Anchorage office.
  • Occasional, part-time telework is optional.
  • Able to travel and work in the field as needed, with exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Willingness to perform overtime and weekend work to ensure client projects are delivered on time.
  • Able to lift weights up to 40 pounds.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
  • Be able to access military or other government facilities.

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The job requires the physical ability to perform field work, traverse various terrain for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds at a time. Additionally, applicants must be able to maintain prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer with frequent opportunities to move about. Essential and marginal functions may require applicants to maintain the physical conditions necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding the Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job is performed both in the office and the field. The office setting has exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The field setting requires firsthand gathering data and monitoring environmental conditions, with exposure to outdoor elements. Travel is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
