Description

An ePowertrain Simulation Engineering Specialist works closely with the ePowertrain component and sub-system teams (power-source, power electronics, motors, and controls) to simulate ePowertrain system performance for a particular ePowertrain configuration. This role will be responsible for executing ePowertrain NPI simulation requests and presenting key learning from the simulation. This role will also help in the development and documentation of our core simulation processes. This role occasionally have to develop new simulation capabilities that are necessary to predict ePowertrain system performance and durability.

Job Duties

An ePowertrain Simulation Engineering Specialist works closely with the ePowertrain component and sub-system teams (power-source, power electronics, motors, and controls) to simulate ePowertrain system performance for a particular ePowertrain configuration. This role will be responsible for executing ePowertrain NPI simulation requests and presenting key learning from the simulation. This role will also help in the development and documentation of our core simulation processes. This role occasionally have to develop new simulation capabilities that are necessary to predict ePowertrain system performance and durability.

What you will do:

  • Execute simulation requests for ePowertrain system.
  • Help development and document our core simulation processes and follow those processes.
  • Help develop new simulation capabilities as necessary to predict ePowertrain system performance and durability
  • Communicate with ePowertrain system, sub-system, and component teams to ensure that all the necessary simulation models are being developed in order to successfully simulate the performance and/or durability of the ePowertrain system.
  • Provide estimates of cost and duration for completing simulation tasks for ePowertrain system, subsystem, or component design teams.
  • Report progress on simulation requests.
What you have:

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or related field)

Technical Excellence: Experience developing and applying 1D physics-based simulation for batteries, electric motors, power electronics and/or mechanical drivetrain applications
Level Extensive Experience:
• Advises others on the 1D simulation approach to understand a particular system.
• Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
• Mentors others to enhance their technical simulation competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.
• Coaches others in defining, analyzing, and providing proposed solutions to system design problems.
• Is accountable for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for their performance.

Process Management: Knowledge of simulation process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing work processes.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Helps others learn the tools and techniques for providing valuable simulation analysis.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of simulation process flow, its components and issues.
• Synchronizes the efforts of, and resource requirements for, several teams within a simulation process.
• Makes the business case for the development of new simulation processes, including their cost-benefit ratios.
• Possesses knowledge of tools and techniques for developing and implementing new simulation processes.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Level Expert:
• Evaluates simulation processes and ensures best-fit for enhanced accuracy.
• Monitors the industry for new tools and techniques in assuring simulation accuracy and efficiency.
• Coaches others in simulation methods. Identifies and corrects errors, oversights and omissions.

Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective physics-based simulation analysis; ability to determine the root cause of analysis problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

• Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.
• Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
• Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL

Relocation assistance is available for this position. Domestic relocation only.

This position will require less than 10% travel
