The Role

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to ensure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

The position is for the Test Engineering Carrier Outfitting Team. The System Engineer 4's role is to ensure testing executed by the Carrier Outfitting Team meets design criteria, government specifications, contractual requirements, and program needs. The System Engineer 4 shall help lead the team in continuous development to ensure the team meets company objectives, including: safety, cost, schedule, and quality goals.

Normal Daily Responsibilities to Include:

• Provide a technical review of critical test procedures for issuance, alterations, and sign offs.
• Provide resolution of shipboard issues identified through the test program.
• Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders to execute the test program on the Carrier New Construction Program and In Service Carrier Program.
• Develop team processes for incorporation of digital shipbuilding products into the Outfitting test procedures.
• Develop and deliver training on various material subjects and how to write robust procedures for the team.

Must Have

An ABET Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Nice to Have

The ideal candidate should will have the following:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Experience leading engineering evaluations and troubleshooting of a variety of electrical and mechanical components
  • Experience leading the operation of major systems in a shipboard environment
  • Robust knowledge of various Carrier Outfitting systems, to include: AC Plants, Ventilation, Potable Water, Alarm & Monitoring Systems, Waste Processing, Compartment Closure, and other various habitability systems
  • Good communication methods and skills to coordinate with Waterfront Construction Management, Design and Construction Engineering, Test Engineering, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, and Ships Force
  • Capacity to evaluate problems relative to impact on the overall plan/schedule and formulate mitigating action plans
  • Understanding of the importance of safety, cost, schedule, and quality with respect to the company's product
