The Role
Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
NNS, a division of HII, is seeking an ambitious, strategic and honorable entry level engineer to join our team of highly motivated individuals. The ideal candidate should have effective analytical, problem-solving, conceptual, administrative, and communication skills. New engineers will be trained by their fellow shipbuilders and learn how to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques to solve critical problems. With the assistance of team lead engineers, entry level engineers will perform engineering calculations, analysis, research and development as part of routine assignments that are designed to develop familiarity with equipment, procedures and systems. We are a company dedicated to the mission and safety of our country. Our engineers work in a fast paced environment, adapt to challenges, and design, build and overhaul nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines for the United States Navy. These are some of the most technologically advanced warships in the world which are employed to protect our country's freedom. NNS utilizes cutting edge technology and techniques to achieve these goal such as, but not limited to: additive manufacturing, augmented/virtual reality, and robotics. Our state-of-the-art laboratory, known as the Virginia Advanced Shipbuilding Carrier Integration Center, houses diverse research and design testing facilities.
NNS is in search of a diversely skilled engineer to support the research, development of structural engineering specification involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design and/or operation.
