The Role
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical component, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
NNS, a division of HII, is seeking an ambitious, strategic and honorable entry level engineer to join our team of highly motivated individuals. The ideal candidate should have effective analytical, problem-solving, conceptual, administrative, and communication skills. New engineers will be trained by their fellow shipbuilders and learn how to apply fundamental engineering principles and techniques to solve critical problems. With the assistance of team lead engineers, entry level engineers will perform engineering calculations, analysis, research and development as part of routine assignments that are designed to develop familiarity with equipment, procedures and systems. The ideal candidate will provide engineering support to designers and tradesmen, analyze electrical failures and problems and provide engineering solutions to return ships to service, provide technical recommendations and documents to internal and external customers, effectively communicate and engage with team members. Our engineers work in a fast paced environment, adapt to challenges, and design, build and overhaul nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines for the United States Navy. NNS utilizes cutting edge technology and techniques to achieve these goal such as, but not limited to: additive manufacturing, augmented/virtual reality, and robotics. Our state-of-the-art laboratory, known as the Virginia Advanced Shipbuilding Carrier Integration Center, houses diverse research and design testing facilities.

0 Years with Bachelors in Science- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
