Overview
The Employee Wellness Consultants are the subject matter experts on wellness programs and resources at Wellstar furthering the culture of health and wellbeing within the organization. Working under the direction of the Employee Wellness Manager, the Employee Wellness Consultant will create, coordinate, implement and lead efforts to support Wellstar Health System's People and Culture initiative to improve the overall health and well-being of all team members. Wellness Consultants support all shifts to ensure wellness is promoted across the entire organization.

Through targeted marketing, program promotion and outreach, this position plays a major role in engaging team members in well-being initiatives that align with organizational and facility specific goals. The EW Consultant will align themselves with clinical and non-clinical department leaders and executives to assist in carrying out their well-being strategies.

The EW Consultant develops and implements customized results oriented wellness programs for the individual, for teams and for leaders as it pertains to their specific well-being needs. Aligning their needs with the five pillars of wellness: Social, Financial, Mental/Emotional, Physical/Nutritional, Work-Life Balance. This includes cultivating partnerships with internal and external resources and collaborating with other departments to ensure expert level knowledge on best practices and standards within the industry.

This position is responsible for the coordination and organization of overall wellness events to support team members through marketing tabling events, leadership meetings, department staff meetings, and targeted daily rounding. Also, they will be available to support departments such as Talent Acquisition and Organizational Learning as it pertains to recruitment events and partnering on ways to enhance action planning and IDP participation.

The EW Consultant will work alongside their facilities' leadership team to establish and co-chair a site specific Employee Wellness Committee to drive wellness culture initiatives and to enhance team member engagement.

This role will provide consultative wellness support to leaders seeking various service excellence designations. The EW Consultant will provide program results and collect meaningful data to enhance documentation to meet specific designation criteria.

The EW Consultant oversees the day to day operations of their onsite Wellness Room. Restocking of inventory, daily cleanliness checks, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, monitoring team member usage, and escalating any issues to the EW Operations Supervisor.

Acts as secondary level of intervention for system Wellstar CARES Crisis Intervention. Partnering with Clinical Wellness and Resiliency, Spiritual Health, Ethics and our EAP to expedite support for team members post traumatic event.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilites and Essential Functions

  • Program Assessment and Development
    * Learn all the functions/initiatives of the Employee Wellness programs directed toward reducing health risks and improving overall health and wellbeing for team members
    * Heighten awareness of the factors that can affect health and wellness, educating team members on how to take increased responsibility for their health behaviors through system wellness initiatives and customized programming
    * Customize program elements and align wellness themes to coincide with each leader/department/ teams' needs as it relates to our wellness pillars: physical/nutritional, mental/emotional, social, financial and work life balance
    * Design, promote and implement Employee Wellness programs at designated sites
    * Work with internal committees and departments to promote wellness initiatives within hospital units and departments
    * Identify the outcome metrics associated with key program initiatives
    * Develop and conduct program specific surveys to determine needs assessments at each site
    * Track and report pre/post metrics to illustrate effectiveness and value of program
    * Create/organize program materials and modes of communication for optimal engagement
    * Schedule program cadence depending on leader/team needs
    * Teach quarterly systemwide preventative courses for diabetes and MSK
    * Must be aware of and fully versed in all wellness related programs including those within: Fitness Centers, Center for Best Health, Get Well @ Work, and Work-Life Services
  • Marketing and Program Promotion
    * Promote and engage in well-being initiatives that align with organizational goals and strategies including: Sharecare, Spring Health, Well Being Index, MyCare Rewards Benefits, Employee Fitness Centers, Circles Concierge, Transamerica, Members First Credit Union, Center for Best Health, Get Well @ Work, Bright Horizons and ongoing additional work life services
    * Responsible for creating hospital and health part wellness newsletter featuring site-specific wellness initiatives
    * Attend weekly/monthly meetings with hospital leadership to provide regular wellness based information
    * Partner with internal and external departments and businesses to resource share best practices and to educate team member and community members on Wellstar's strategy to enhance our wellness culture
  • Onsite Wellness Support
    * Perform targeted daily wellness rounds to optimize social interaction, shared learning and group cohesion surrounding team member wellness
    * Coordinate interventions with onsite care navigators, spiritual health, and clinical resilience team during CARES activation
    * Support leaders in applying wellness themes within their day to day operations around topics such as: fairness, camaraderie, pride, credibility, and respect to enhance social connection and trust within the workplace to positively impact GPTW scores
    * Hold monthly wellness marketing table event to promote system wellness initiatives to bolster registration/utilization
    * Administer 1:1 Wellness Consultations for team members
    * Provide individual biometric screenings for team members
  • Employee Wellness Committees
    * Recruit co-chair and committee members establishing Employee Wellness Committee at designated site
    * Develop and distribute workplace wellness survey annually
    * Schedule and coordinate monthly committee meeting; providing regular minutes and progress notes to site Executive Sponsor
    * Develop and implement wellness initiatives based on wellness survey results to enhance wellness culture

  • Wellness Rooms
    * Maintain day to day restocking of inventory
    * Daily cleanliness checks
    * Real-time troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
    * Create curriculum and accompanying resources that focus on revolving wellness topics such as: skin cancer, digestion, gut health, diabetes, stress relief, sleep, women's health, MSK, general nutrition
  • Documentation/Reporting
    * Act as primary wellness resource for Nursing Excellence obtaining service excellence designations
    * Work alongside stakeholders to provide support documentation and data for well-being as it pertains to nursing engagement and results

  • Qualifications
    Required Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or any health related degree Required or
  • Master's Degree Preferred

  • Required Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 2 years Within a healthcare organization or corporate wellness setting Required

  • Required Minimum Skills

  • After receiving program training, wellness consultants should be proficient in the following areas: ability to guide behavior change efforts in others without prescribing personal actions or solutions so that participants increase self- confidence and capacity to make and sustain positive lifestyle changes, extensive knowledge of our 5 pillars of well-being. Ability to interpret data and outcomes in relation to wellness programs and platforms. Exceptional motivational interviewing techniques and public speaking. Comfortable leading in a small and large group setting. Experience in well-being program development and implementation.
