The Department of Radiology at Stanford School of Medicine is searching for a Division Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging. This full-time faculty appointment will be in the University Medical Line, University Tenure Line or Clinician Educator Line at the Associate or Full Professor level. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The Division Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging will be responsible for clinical, teaching, and research activities of the division. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated both scholarly and clinical achievement in the subspecialty of musculoskeletal imaging, have mentored junior faculty, and have a significant track-record with NIH and industrial funding. Exceptional leadership and administrative skills are also required. The applicant must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree(s) or equivalent, be board-certified in diagnostic radiology, and have completed a formal fellowship in musculoskeletal imaging.

The Stanford Musculoskeletal service is a busy, thriving division in the Department of Radiology, serving Stanford Hospital and Clinics. Clinical MSK activities are shared between Stanford Hospital and the Stanford Medicine Outpatient Center in Redwood City, which is growing and currently has eleven diagnostic x-ray rooms, three 3T MRI scanners, two multidetector CT scanners, two radiography and fluoroscopy procedure rooms, and a dedicated MSK ultrasound room. Co-located with orthopedic surgery and other specialists, MSK radiologists practice in this beautifully appointed facility staffed with highly talented and committed staff. Recent enhancements to the clinical service include improved methods for MRI in patients with metallic implants and MR neurography. We provide all MSK imaging and image-guided therapeutic procedures to Stanford Athletics as well as other local professional and collegiate athletic teams. Stanford Health Care provides leading edge imaging and imaging guided therapy to patients across the Bay Area, Including PET/MRI and top of the line scanners from major vendors, including over 30 clinical and research MRIs across our fleet. There are ample opportunities for partnership with VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Stanford Children's Health, and multiple research and clinical divisions within the department.

Salary Range:

The expected base pay range for this position is:

Associate Professor: $393,000 - $411,000

Full Professor: $431,000 - $449,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It may not include all components of faculty compensation or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
