POSITION SUMMARY:
Delegated by the Senior Director of Flight of Operations, and jointly with the Pilot in Command have the responsibility for the safety and quality of the Operational Control, Aircraft Performance, Operating Limitations, Use of Routes, Areas & Airports, and RVSM airspace.
The Flight Dispatcher/Flight Follower is responsible for cancelling, diverting, or delaying a flight if the flight cannot operate safely as planned or released. The Flight Follower (Flight Dispatcher) is also responsible for assuring that each flight is monitored with respect to departure of the flight from the place of origin and arrival at the place of destination (including intermediate stops and any diversions there from); mechanical delays encountered (at places of origin, destination, and/or intermediate stops); any known conditions that may adversely affect the safety of flight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following, but not limited to:
- Exercises operational control, not limited to the timely execution of flight releases, providing the PIC with all the information necessary for the safety of the flight (registering every "Amendment"), demonstrating proficiency and compliance by navigating through GOM, AOM, FAA SPECS, OCC-SOP, MEL, NRFO and any other manuals required for the ongoing operation.
- Maintains operational control, not limited to continuously monitoring enroute, destination and alternate weather reports and forecasts, navigation and airport facilities, fuel requirements, airworthiness, and full utilization of available communication systems.
- Executes notifications for arrivals and/or departures (Customs, PQ, MDAD, APIS), coordination with Load Control and Maintenance Control to maximize fleet utilization and payloads in compliance with operational control communications and support
- Reports operational issues to the OCC Managers and timely provides fuel schedule, amounts and tankering (when possible) to maximize cost efficiency.
- Supports Charter Sales with timely maximum payloads, enroute times, fuel requirements and overfly/landing permits.
- Completes Fuel Tankering Control, Daily Recap, Process Trip Envelopes, and Completion of any other assignment from the OCC Managers.
- Responds within 3 rings along with backing up scheduling and maintenance control lines
- Processes all the duties to use downtime for processing Amerijet manuals, Jeppesen revisions, trip envelopes, fuel reconciliations and statistical reports, timely.
- Schedules flight crews and monitor crew times when necessary
- Assists flight crews with load movements and weight and balance, arrange ground handling and ground support of Amerijet aircraft.
- Other duties may be assigned.
JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Consistently maintains a rating of 98% or better on flight releasing reliability and all other operational control duties.
- Consistently maintains 98% or better on payload maximization and fuel tankerage efficiencies to meet or exceed company objectives.
- Consistently maintains efficient utilization of the daily downtime for processing the Tankering Control, special permits, statistical reports, revision of manuals, Jeppesen revisions, and trip envelops.
- Receives rating of good or better on performance evaluations.
- Maintains satisfactory on-time attendance record within acceptable guidelines as outlined in Company Employee Manual.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
This is largely a sedentary role and requires being able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally, the person in this position is required to move/traverse inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. The person in this position is regularly communicates with others in person, phone, or correspondence.
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION and/or CERTIFICATION:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED. College degree a plus.
- Must hold a FAA Part121 Dispatch certificate.
- A degree in Air Transport or Airline Operations is highly desirable
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of FAR's for crew duty day requirements
- Aviation industry knowledge, FAR Part 121 experience strongly preferred
- GOM, AOM, FAA SPECS, OCC-SOP, MEL, NRFO manual interpretation
- Proficient use of office software such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes,
- Experience using Geneva, Navtech, and/or Jeppensen highly desired.
- Understanding of navigation, weather, routing and altitudes
- Experience in making decisions quickly regarding safety, flight regulations and costs
- Must know how to calculate loads and fueling requirements
SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Must be willing to have a flexible schedule to include working nights and weekends
- Ability to cover scheduling needs in the event of staffing shortage, sick time, vacation, recurrent training etc.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
- Ability to analyze complex situations, problem solve and precise time management
- Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office skills (including Word and Excel) and ability to learn new programs quickly.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary
