Job Description

The General Manager is a passionate, visible, and critical leadership role that will lead our early development Bend, OR facility. This role will play an integral part in significantly growing the business while fulfilling the demand on behalf of our vast customer base. Additionally, it will play a key role in growing and prioritizing our global footprint within the rapidly growing Contract Developing and Manufacturing services industry. This individual will strategically deploy internal capabilities to deliver impressive results using a combination of outstanding awareness of external market forces and a deep understanding of our customer's needs. This role inspires change across the network, identifying process improvement opportunities and delivering solutions to such challenges. The GM has full P&L responsibilities and is a crucial team member of the North America Drug Product Business Unit Leadership Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership to all functions of the site. Establish goals and priorities consistent with business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Ensure the operational financial performance is in line with the business objectives, proactively addressing improvements.
  • Develop and mentor an impactful team with capabilities to drive ownership and accountability, while breaking down barriers that impede success.
  • Drive continuous higher levels of process improvement, customer happiness, profitable growth, and transformation at the site.
  • Role models a site culture aligned with Thermo Fisher's 4i Values, and be a strong change advocate able to move individuals and groups through change successfully.
  • Work effectively with operational, business and site leaders to develop and effectively deploy a shared vision, strategy and approach.
  • Be a problem-identifier and solver; recognizes a wide range of early warning signals in the Business, which allows and/or requires a proactive approach to problem prevention.
  • Ensure full alignment with both customers and regulatory authorities to deliver detailed compliance.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering or relevant scientific subject area required, with an advanced degree or MBA preferred.

Strategic and operational expertise and a track record of leadership experience in diverse, constantly evolving environments with experience delivering strong operational results.

Preferred candidate will have experience (10+ years) in a leadership role within a highly regulated pharma manufacturing environment.

Proven track record of driving operational excellence, cost reduction, and process improvement initiatives.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
