Job Purpose
The credit manager is responsible for the overall management of the $400+ million global credit function, which includes determination of credit worthiness of customers and cost of terms. This position supervises the credit team consisting of a credit analyst and a banking associate and is responsible for the operational goals, direction of the group, staffing, training and development of the team. This position is responsible for working with the internal Information Technology department, customers, and the bank to ensure continued efficiency in keeping up with the appropriate technology in order to be customer focused in tandem with all business units, to foster sales growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Designate degree of risk involved in extending credit by analyzing the financial strength and credit worthiness of customer base, for both existing and new customers based on D&B analysis, customer credit references and personal knowledge from other research and in conjunction with information from the sales team.
- Establish credit limits and terms for all customer accounts.
- Perform cost analysis related to customer financing options and extended payment terms in order to make final recommendations to management and sales.
- Review and approve sales adjustments on all customer accounts.
- Manage cash application process to ensure timeliness and efficiency of customer payments.
- Coordinate with sales department to resolve customer-billing issues in a timely manner to expedite cash flow and minimize accounts receivable delinquency.
- Monitor accounts and balances deemed non-collectable and make decisions regarding credit hold, write off, and resolution.
- Prepare monthly analysis reports and synopses of customer delinquency and make recommendations to management and sales.
- Coordinate with sales department to facilitate collection of funds.
- Maintain business partner history in ERP system to foster transparency and availability of customer knowledge to others.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new customer driven processes, such as EDI (electronic data interchange) or ERS (electronic receipt settlement).
- Review analysis and exception reports regularly and field questions from credit analyst, banking associate and sales team.
- Prepare various general ledger account analyses and recon.
- Participate in Month End close process and annual audits.
- Work with in concert with Accounting Manager to lead the department as a cohesive team.
- Perform other special projects as assigned by management.
Experience and Educational QualificationsBS/BA degree preferred
7-10 years related experience
Credit certification preferred
Windows and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) proficiency required
Knowledgeable of banking systems and portals (Bank of America/CashPro experience favorable)
Knowledgeable of credit, collections, banking, finance, commercial law, sales and operations
Familiar with Infor or comparable ERP/business management systems
