Join Our Team as a Male Urological Teaching Associate (MUTA) or Gynecological Teaching Associate (GTA)
Are you passionate about advancing medical education and comfortable with your body? Become a vital part of our team as a MUTA or GTA, where you'll provide hands-on learning experiences to future healthcare providers. Use your own body to teach essential physical exam techniques, offering students a supportive, standardized, and safe environment to learn and grow.
What You'll Do:
Hands-On Educator: Provide practical learning experiences by allowing medical students to perform sensitive exams, while giving constructive feedback and coaching.
Anatomy Expert: Teach relevant anatomy and physical exam techniques, ensuring students gain a thorough understanding.
Communication Coach: Help students develop their communication skills, essential for patient interactions.
Safety Advocate: Ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all participants.
Training Provided:
Comprehensive training in relevant anatomy and physical exams.
Development of communication and teaching skills.
Requirements:
Passion for Teaching: A strong desire to advance relationship-centered care through practical teaching and coaching.
Commitment to Safety: Dedication to maintaining physiological safety in a learning environment.
Subject Matter Expertise: Ability to memorize and teach relevant subject matter.
Body Confidence: Comfort with your own body and being touched and examined by others.
Physical Integrity: Individuals who have not had their male or female organs removed, though some previous surgeries are acceptable.
Gender Comfort: Must be comfortable teaching from the gender assigned at birth.
Exam Details:
MUTA Exam:
Conducted in a private room with a chaperone and 1-2 medical students.
All parties wear appropriate protective equipment.
Includes external visual assessment, physical inspection of the penis, scrotum, and testicles, palpation of the groin for hernia, reflex testing, and a digital rectal exam of the prostate.
GTA Exam:
Conducted in a private room with a chaperone and 1-2 medical students.
All parties wear appropriate sterile and protective equipment.
Includes a breast exam with visual inspection and palpation, external visual assessment of the groin and vulva, manual examination of the perennial muscles and glands, speculum exam of the vaginal walls and cervix, and a bi-manual examination of the uterus and ovaries.
