Job Information

The Chemical Regulatory Engineer is responsible for providing leadership and technical resources to ensure compliance with global regulations, laws, and directives that address the chemical content of articles. As a point of contact, you will, together with our global offices and suppliers, promote and educate the requirements of global chemical laws and help identify and implement compliance solutions. You will develop and maintain processes for tracking future regulations to identify the business impact of chemical restrictions or prohibitions.

Location(s): Bismarck, ND; West Fargo, ND; Minneapolis, MN; Johnson Creek, WI; Statesville, NC

Role & Responsibility

Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop a long-range plan for gathering and maintaining information related to chemical content in components
  • Serve as a technical resource for integrating chemical compliance regulations into new/existing product designs and processes
Collaboration and Management:
  • Continuous collaboration with Engineering and Supply Management and with industry groups to participate in the regulatory and standardization processes
  • Establish collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders
  • Serve on relevant industry group committees
Compliance and Internal Support:
  • Maintain and organize a database of all applicable regulations, laws, and directives regarding chemical and environmental compliance that affect the company's products to ensure compliance
  • Serve on project teams implementing alternative chemical substances
Innovation and Efficiency:
  • Assists the company in understanding and carrying out chemical compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, registration, etc.
  • Recommend new innovative solutions for analyzing data and communicating requirements to stakeholders
  • Lead contractors performing maintenance support for the chemical compliance programs

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field (including Chemical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Aeronautical, Electrical, and Environmental)
  • 5-10 years of related experience (advanced degree / specialized skills can substitute for some years)
  • Travel Standard < 25%
  • Project management experience implementing technological solutions
  • Experience with BI & Analytics and internal database solutions
  • Ability to analyze and design data collection and analytical processes
  • Experience with Internal Database Solutions, i.e., Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, and highly computer-literate
  • Understanding of design, manufacturing, and procurement processes
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness quality, and compliance with established project standards
  • Analytical mindset and problem solver
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Willing to work with distributed and multi-cultural teams
Desired:
  • Knowledge and working experience with Information Material Data Systems (IMDS), Compliance Data Exchange (CDX), or Assent Compliance or equivalent a plus
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, directives, and standards related to product chemical compliance
