Position Summary:Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Coach, Experiential Learning & Internships - Student Focused. - Boca Raton, FL.
The FAU Career Coach, Experiential Learning & Internships is a multifaceted role that engages students, alumni, faculty, staff, employer partners, and the community. This position develops and executes programs that support experiential learning objectives, creating positive pathways for student and employer engagement through job shadowing programs, internships, micro-internships, and co-op opportunities. The coordinator will build internal and external connections, assisting students in identifying and preparing for their future careers.
Summary of responsibilities:
Student Engagement:
Partners with the Career Education and Career Coaching team to enhance programs and applications that prepare students for their careers, focusing on the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) core competencies.
Develops, delivers, and facilitates experiential learning workshops and programs for students, faculty, and staff.
Provides comprehensive services for students and alumni, including resume building, critiques, internship searches, micro-internship and job shadow applications, job search strategies, career exploration, and interview preparation.
Assists students with job shadowing and internship course registrations, managing student assignments and employer evaluations for Co-op and Internship Courses, and liaising with faculty instructors.
Guides students in utilizing career-related and internship course technology platforms such as Handshake, Canvas, Big Interview, Jobscan, Focus 2, and others.
Coaches students through the reflective process following experiential education and assists in assessing next steps.
Program Management - Professional Internship Course Management:
Oversees a professional internship course (IDS 3949), including announcements, grading process and execution, and communications with students in the course. IDS 3949 is offered year-round, twice per semester.
Grades assignments (introduction, career skills discussion board, midterm, and final) for the Professional Internship Course.
Conducts evaluations of student learning outcomes each semester and reports findings to Career Center leadership.
Conducts outreach to internship supervisors multiple times during the semester and manages the internship supervisor evaluation process and collection using Qualtrics.
Runs reports on the employer supervisor's feedback and other course data, as needed.
Troubleshoots issues for students enrolled in the Professional Internship Course.
Marginal:
Supports Career Center Events, initiatives, and special programs and delivers FAU Career Center programs within the broader FAU community.
Conducts presentations on Career Center services (internship search strategies, how to succeed at your internship, micro-internships, etc.) to students, families, and faculty.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
