Delta Star provides power solutions for utilities across North America. This includes the manufacturing of medium-power transformers, mobile transformers, mobile electrical substations, trailers, and unitized substations. We offer power transformers for utility applications including power and distribution, transmission voltages, system ties, and automatic voltage regulations, as well as industrial applications. Delta Star also provides comprehensive engineering, testing, maintenance services, and parts for any transformer manufacturer through our Field Service business unit, ensuring our customer's transformers and mobiles maintain peak performance.

Purpose

Responsible for procuring the required raw materials on time, in good quality condition and in line with DSI supply chain sourcing strategy prices.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing supplies and services from the approved vendor list.
  • Work closely with other areas to complete orders according to the engineering list and production schedule.
  • Collaborates with Operations and Master Planner to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met.
Specific Duties
  • Process purchase requisitions and coordinate purchasing activities with appropriate manufacturing, engineering, and other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and ensure material availability prior to the job start date in operations.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of required materials to prevent material shortages and make necessary follow-ups.
  • Review the upcoming schedule of available work and manage shipments to meet production schedule.
  • Monitor & takes action as required to expedite & disposition non-conformances in material.
  • Actively communicates through completion and closing and informs as necessary, vendor, requisitioners, appropriate management, accounting, and production control on order status and delivery.
  • Resolve incorrect invoices, shipping errors, and cancellation of orders.
  • Obtain replacements for materials not meeting company specifications and engineering changes in a timely manner.
  • Executes DSI sourcing strategy at the site level to ensure approved vendors.
  • First level of escalation for supplier delivery or quality issues, initiates conversations and response from vendors to address any performance problems.
Education and Work Experience
  • BS or BA degree in Business Administration or Economics or equivalent experience and/or minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining purchasing records, recognizing and identifying errors or inconsistencies and requesting contingency plans.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail accompanied by basic math skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Desire to work outside of boundaries, drive change and foster continuous improvement.
  • Must have ability to maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Must have a knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and MRP/ERP Systems. Knowledge of D365 system a plus.
