Position Summary

An Associate within Carlyle's Real Estate Asset Management Group is primarily responsible for the financial modeling and analysis for investments made by the Fund. The Associate works directly as an Investment team member with others within Carlyle's US Real Estate Group, including Managing Directors, Principals, Vice Presidents, and Senior Associates. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an early career real estate finance professional to join a dynamic and strategic team.

The role of the Associate is extremely important to the overall management of Carlyle's real estate portfolio. The integrity and timeliness of financial modeling and analysis are critical to the strategic decision making process from both an individual investment and a portfolio perspective. The Associate will gain immediate exposure to sophisticated capital structures and opportunistic strategies.

Responsibilities

Financial Management and Modeling

  • Maintain investment level Excel and Argus models that capture complex capital structure and waterfall calculations
  • Create sensitivity models that answer key strategic initiatives and provide concise results
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Excel and the overall modeling process
  • Participate in operational, development, and leasing calls to drive the strategy of the investment
  • Update quarterly investor communications and reporting
  • Prepare materials and participate in quarterly asset review meetings with Fund Head
  • Fully comprehend and manage ownership documentation including debt and venture agreements to ensure compliance with covenants and terms
  • Calculate quarterly asset and equity valuations and prepare documentation

Other Investment Activities

  • Assist the Investment Team with other ad hoc requests for investors, lenders, and buyers
  • Assist the Investment team with transactions related activities such as exits/dispositions,
  • major lease analysis, and recapitalizations
  • Process equity calls and distributions, legal invoices, and TCG expenses for each investment

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years related Real Estate Asset Management experience
  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic record required; GPA of at least 3.5 preferred
  • Highly motivated, assertive and driven
  • Willingness to work long hours in intense yet rewarding team environment
  • Strong analytical, qualitative, and modelling skills
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, organize, and meet all deadlines
  • Committed to high standards of excellence and ethics
  • Clear, articulate communicator with professional presence
  • Effectively identifies issues and formulates solutions
  • Detail-oriented and diligent

Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York, NY and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000.

In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
