Job Summary
To provide overall leadership for the development, communication of priorities, implementation, and monitoring of systemwide programs and activities related to recruitment and retention of students. The Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Student Enrollment and Retention Services has a particular focus on long-range strategic planning and facilitates the processes that ensure that Strategic Enrollment Management, Student Success, and Academic Affairs are working collaboratively to identify services, programs, and curricular interventions that support student enrollment and degree completion. As a key member of the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management, the AVC will play a critical role in systemwide advising, recruitment, and retention initiatives. As such, the AVC will be responsible for keeping abreast of national trends and participating in scholarly activities to enhance the successful delivery of quality and inclusive student services and programs.
This position may have the opportunity to work remotely within the state of Tennessee but with periodic visits to the TBR System Office (Nashville, TN) at the employee's expense, and potential travel to Tennessee TBR colleges.
Job Duties
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in education, adult education, student personnel, higher education administration, communication, business, or related field
* 5 years of appropriate/relevant experience in student advising, admissions, records, student support services, college access services, postsecondary instruction and/or high impact practice design and implementation
* Demonstrated experience working successfully with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators
* Demonstrated success in project management, program development, developing partnerships, and managing multiple priorities
* Supervision experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Doctoral degree
* Program development and/or management experience at a campus or statewide level;
* Supervisory Experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of project oversight and implementation;
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment;
* Knowledge of recruitment strategies, including prospective student management, marketing, and targeted recruitment efforts;
* Sensitive to economic, cultural, and other issues relating to challenges to college enrollment by a diverse student body;
* Familiarity with current Federal policies with student financial aid requirements;
* Effective public speaking and presentation skills for a diverse range of audiences;
* Evidenced ability to collect, aggregate, and disseminate data;
* Working knowledge of best practices related to the development and implementation of robust admissions and retention programs;
* Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
* Ability to self-motivate and work independently
* Proficient in the use of technology to communicate electronically and digitally
* A working familiarity with MS Office programs
* Strong organizational skills
