Wednesday-Saturday - 6am-4pm - Full Time - 4 day work week

Job Summary: As a member of the leadership team for the Treatment Center, the Assistant Nurse Manager works on site at at the Treatment Center to ensure nursing coverage to support medication dispensing and the monitoring of symptoms, provide supervision and oversight to the nurses, and ensure compliance to DEA, DPH/BSAS regulations and certification standards. The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the Bay Cove's mission by ensuring quality care is provided to individuals on their recovery journey.

This is an exempt position.

Essential Functions of Position:

  • Assist the Nurse Manager to maintain a team of talented nurses and ensure required on-site nursing coverage to support medication dispensing and monitoring of symptoms.
  • In the absence of the Nurse Manager, manage all nursing operations, including the provision of quality of patient care, including troubleshooting and problem solving factors resulting in service disruptions to ensure continuous operations.
  • Support and reinforce the training efforts of the Nurse Manager in the provision of relevant training to all Treatment Center staff and the training of Nurses on nursing policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Collaborate with program leadership on the development and revision of policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Facilitate the collaborative work of nursing, clinical, and administrative staff to support the daily physical and health care needs of patients in the program.
  • Support the Nurse Manager in ensuring compliance with the budget by efficiently managing resources, including staffing, medication, and supplies.
  • As delegated by the Nurse Manager, provide nursing leadership in staff, supervision, and multidisciplinary meetings, as well as in individual and group supervision, training, and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to DEA and all state and federal regulations regarding the use of controlled substances in the program at all times and be available for DEA and State representatives during site visits and other licensing or accreditation bodies in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
  • Perform dispensing nurse duties directly as needed to meet the needs of patients, including conducting clinical assessments for opioid medication dispensing, preparation of take-home medications, and providing health education.
  • In absence of the Nurse Manager, assume leadership of the clinic by providing crisis assessment, prevention, and needed intervention to address medical, behavioral, and safety issues that arise.
  • Provide on-call coverage, including 24 hour dose verification, on a rotating basis with the Nurse Manager.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements for the position:
  • Massachusetts registration and license in nursing.
  • Three (3) years acute care experience preferred.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Prior substance use disorder and/or behavioral health treatment experience required.
  • Prior experience working with individuals who are unhoused is preferred.
  • Prior experience in harm reduction and trauma responsive patient care preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
