IR&DS analyzes and reports on data from all of Stanford's major administrative systems, including student, faculty, course, research, and financial data. IR&DS performs and facilitates complex analyses for university leadership, departments, and central offices, including collaborating with other universities to provide comparative data and proactively publishing dashboards and management reports.IR&DS administers Stanford's Data Governance Program which is dedicated to ensuring analysts and decision-makers across the University have well-curated, accessible, consistent, transparent, high-quality data assets which support their work. The data governance program scope is Stanford's administrative data, including financial, human resources, student records, and other data used in administrative applications.Learn more about IR&DS: https://irds.stanford.edu/aboutABOUT THE ROLE:Stanford's Administrative Data Governance Program seeks a Data Governance Architect to curate data assets in our Collibra-based Data Governance Center repository (DGC) for our community of analysts and decision-makers. Our repository includes identification of data lineage, cataloging data, data quality, security, privacy and compliance requirements, and other data attributes. The architect will lead technical implementation of tools to harvest metadata and data lineage into the DGC for system enhancement projects, and the development of new systems.Using our data governance operating model to coordinate the activities of business partners, data stewards, data managers, project teams, and other technical resources, the architect will build governance during the migration of subject area data assets to cloud and data lake architectures.The Data Governance Architect will report to the Data Governance Program Director.CORE DUTIES:

    Provide frameworks, best practices, and subject matter expertise in Collibra required to deliver effective data governance and management solutions in our Data Governance Center.Work with technology and business partners to implement solutions for harvesting metadata and data lineage; documenting data assets to Stanford's Data Governance Center and ensuring infrastructure supports governance activities.Conduct or participate in meetings, workshops, and interviews with data owners, stewards, data managers, and IT stakeholders to design and build a data repository that supports our data strategy and systems roadmap.Identify, document, and prioritize governance use cases that will support our strategy and roadmap.Translate business and technical requirements into Collibra designs, implement, and validate outcomes with users.Align Data Governance Center implementation with Stanford's data governance operating model.Assess, recommend, and implement capabilities using Collibra and other tools related to business and technical metadata, data lineage, data profiling, data quality improvement efforts, and issue/request management in Stanford's Data Governance Center.Install, configure, and test metadata and lineage extraction harvesting software connecting systems to the Data Governance Center.Develop and deliver training materials, use case and asset model documentation, as well as implementation specification. Recommend curation processes for high quality Data Governance Center content in Collibra. Support the implementation, maintenance, and extension of end-to-end data governance processes and tools including the Data Governance Center and its connections to source systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in scientific or analytic field and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experienceKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Collibra Ranger or Solution Architect certification.Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is a plus. In-depth knowledge of data governance and data management concepts, approaches, and tools and the role of data governance in the successful implementation of data strategy at enterprise-scale.Demonstrated hands-on technical skills automating extraction of metadata and lineage from complex enterprise data systems.Advanced analytical, problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multitask, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data environments, distill concepts and communicate results in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements.Strong listening, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external customers.Ability to explain the value of Collibra and data governance to both business and technical stakeholders.Self-motivated, flexible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Stanford University has five regional pay structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $147,000 to $169,000 per annum (within 10 Bay Area counties) or $110,000 to $154,000 per annum (all other regions).Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
