Braun Intertec is seeking a full-time Archaeological Investigator and project manager in any of our Upper Midwest offices. Fieldwork will typically entail Phase I shovel test survey for local, state, and federal projects, with possible work on Phase II and Phase III projects. Frequent travel and strenuous fieldwork are expected for this position, but it is expected that the successful candidate will work into a primarily writing and supervisory role over time. Opportunity to travel to other regions of the United States to assist with investigations. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Single occupancy Lodging and daily per diem will be provided on travel projects. This position includes a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for an individual with enthusiasm about his/her work, and with a strong commitment to client service, technical excellence, and service growth
  • Meets Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards in Archaeology
  • Prefer, but do not require, RPA registration
  • 5-10 years of consulting experience with background research, field surveys and technical report preparation on projects of all sizes, from due-diligence screenings to large Phase III mitigations
  • Advanced degree in Archaeology/Anthropology
  • Knowledgeable in North American, particularly Upper Midwest, archaeology
  • Knowledge and experience with NEPA, Section 106, and federal, state, and local agency's environmental review processes and requirements
  • Experience with state and federal agency consultation, and excellent reputation within the professional and regulatory communities
  • Experience with tribal consultation and tribal governments
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Applicants should be highly self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and perform detail-oriented work
  • Demonstrable experience for successful completion of technical reports and research
  • Familiarity with GPS and GIS applications and software


Responsibilities
  • This individual will directly oversee and conduct cultural resources services and projects in a team environment supporting existing natural resource, compliance & permitting, and investigation & remediation staff at times and working independently at other times
  • There will be additional emphasis on cultivating new regional clients and business development for cultural resources services
  • There will also be focus on business development as we grow our Natural Resource & Cultural Resource services throughout the region
  • The position requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to independently conduct project tasks
  • Cultural resources file reviews
  • Assessing site risk profiles
  • Drafting proposals and work plans
  • Leading document preparation in a team environment
  • Preparing or supervising the preparation of cultural resource technical reports
  • Coordinating with clients and sub consultants
  • Consultation with federal and state agencies
  • Direct supervision and lead field investigations
  • Perform cultural resources reviews and become permitted for field investigations in multiple states
  • Prepare scopes and costs for projects as part of business development efforts
  • Manage field technicians to successfully complete fieldwork
  • Travel for project work on a regular basis (typically 2-10 days per trip)
  • Travel will be a mix of regional with national opportunities
  • Amount of travel will be dependent of project workload

Compensation Range:
$63,900.00 - $95,900.00
