Description:
An industry leading international logistics company is seeking an Air Export Manager in their San Francisco, CA location. This person is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the air export process, from initial customer contact to final delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of international trade regulations, logistics, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in managing air freight operations and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the air export department, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
  • Manage a team of air export specialists, providing leadership, guidance, and training.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Customer Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their specific needs and requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding shipment status, delays, and any other relevant information.
• Logistics and Operations:
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, airlines, customs brokers, and other service providers to ensure timely and accurate shipment delivery.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers and other service providers to optimize costs.
  • Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any issues or delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant export regulations, including customs, security, and hazardous materials regulations.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  • Prepare and review all necessary export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
  • Ensure compliance with all import and export regulations, including customs, security, and hazardous materials regulations.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices.
• Financial Management:
  • Monitor and control departmental expenses, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including revenue and cost analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in air export operations.
• Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and logistics processes.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as TMS, ERP, and customs clearance systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
