Duties: Dental Assistants with more than 5 years practical experience in specialty dental procedures and general dentistry. Candidate must possess and demonstrate working knowledge of specialty dental procedures and advanced 4-handed assisting techniques in all disciplines of dentistry.
Candidates are required to possess a minimum of 5 years advanced training as a 4-handed Dental Assistant performing duties such as: Taking impressions of teeth for study models, pouring and trimming of diagnostic casts, fabrication of Crown and bridge provisionals and working knowledge of specialty dental procedures including, Orthodontics, Endodontics, Periodontics and Implant and Oral Surgery. Digital x-ray exposure and mounting of radiographs, maintain supplies, set-up, and breakdown of operatories. Assist at multi locations as necessary. Assist Specialty and General Dentist Chairside as needed. End-to-end patient service, issue instruments, set up & breakdown of operatories per compliance standards. Take x-rays, inventory & monitor the crash cart & sedation meds. Timely maintenance of instruments & all equipment; Allocate time, resources efficiently & effectively; Take responsibility for all work activities; Implement decisions that have been agreed upon; Maintain confidentiality with sensitive info at all times. Organize and maintain accurate records, greet and set-up for patient procedures. Treat all fairly & respectfully; Work effectively with others, regardless of their background, position, or status; Respect different values & viewpoints. Work collegially with others, cooperating in both interpersonal & team relationships; Foster enthusiasm & maintain mutual trust, candor & respect. Effectively manage conflict with all stakeholders in the dept. Set-up and breakdown of operatory using current infection control standards. Responsible for upkeep of the surgical equipment to department/infection control standards/law. Support the front desk when needed & other duties as assigned. Work effectively and consistently with Penn community (e.g., students, faculty, staff), Remain calm in stressful situations; Consistently demonstrate pleasant & respectful disposition that puts people at ease. Proactively identify issues with supervisor/mgr. Possess and maintain working knowledge of dental procedures, apply advanced assisting techniques as appropriate for each specialty area assigned. Act professionally & calmly at all times; Treat all people respectfully; Take personal responsibility for correcting problems; Follow up to ensure satisfaction with the level of service they have received.
Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED is required and 5 years to 7 years of experience. Specialty certification or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current CPR certification and BLS preferred. Experience carrying out duties when faced with interruptions, distractions and a fluctuating workload. Ability to use tact, diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools. Experience using standard office equipment such as copier, fax and calculator. Clear and understandable speech to disseminate information and forward messages in a thorough and appropriate manner. Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse groups and individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside of the University. Excellent problem solving skills. Strong commitment to teamwork. Service-oriented, with ability to maintain a pleasant and helpful attitude. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
