Aerospace Studies with The University of Iowa is seeking to hire a 50% (20 hours/week) Administrative Coordinator!
The Administrative Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for the Aerospace Studies Program requiring a high degree of discretion, independent judgement, guidance review, communication, and organization. As the public face of the department, you will routinely interact with ROTC cadets, students, staff, and other visitors, answering inquiries as appropriate. You will also manage daily contacts with building maintenance, vendors, and all other external operations while serving as a key liaison for the department and the University of Iowa with the United States Air Force. You will also have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Army ROTC, Iowa Veterans (IVETS), and Johnson County Veterans Administration personnel, to include active-duty military faculty, student cadets, and retired veterans and alumni.
- Understand the Cadet Life Cycle as outlined in Air Force ROTC Regulations which is critical when handling inquiries regarding the program and maintaining cadets in their proper pay category.
- Manage Scholarship Tuition Program in accordance with Air Force directives.
- Integrate information and may run routine databases queries to generate or produce reports.

About the Department:TheAerospace Studies Programadministers the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) at the University of Iowa. AFROTC prepares highly qualified undergraduate students for commissions as officers in the United States Air Force and the United States Space Force.
Required Qualifications: - A Bachelor's degree or combination of related office administration experience, undergraduate or graduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to eight years of full-time office/department administration professional employment.
Competencies Required: - Demonstrates a basic proficiency level in the following competencies:
- Process and resource management to improve techniques for understanding existing business or work processes and planning, mobilizing and distributing resources for business objectives.
- Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:
- Communication skills to include oral, written, non-verbal cues, feedback - given and received, and simplifying complex concepts. Ability to apply effective communication and relationship building skills in working with students, staff, military personnel and the public.
- Computer software and equipment including Microsoft Office Suite and compatible programs.
- Demonstrates an expert proficiency level in the following competencies:
- The ability to carry out ongoing office administration tasks effectively and efficiently in support of individuals, teams and/or unit with excellent organization and project planning skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail utilizing specific approaches tools for cross-checking and error-free data gathering and input.
Desirable Qualifications: - Knowledge of Air Force guidance, instructions, and regulations regarding officer accessions, Air Education and Training Command institutional requirements, and AFROTC-University contractual obligations.
- Knowledge of military command and control structure.
- Skill in Air Force and Department of Defense data collection and processing systems, to include, but not limited to: WINGS, Defense Finance Accounting Service.
- Prior Air Force experience preferred. Prior Air Force ROTC experience highly desired.

Compensation: $20,000 - $24,000 with Competitive Benefits
