POSITION: Adjunct Instructor, Geology/GeographyPOSITION SUMMARY

Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. Course assignments may be late afternoon, evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Teach Introductory Geology, Physical Geography, World Regional Geography, Human Geography, and/or Introductory Meteorology as needed.
2. Participate in course assessment and planning activities.
3. If credentialed, be willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
4. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
5. Employ effective and innovative teaching methods in the classroom and laboratory.
6. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
7. Teach at other campus sites as needed.
8. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract.
9. Assist in assessment and curriculum data application.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's Degree in Geology, Geography or closely related field.
2. Credentialing, coursework, or experience related to Geology, Physical Geography, World Regional Geography, Human Geography, and/or Introductory Meteorology.
3. Three (3) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
5. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Doctoral Degree in Geology or closely related field with the ability to teach Geology, Physical Geography, World Regional Geography, Human Geography, and/or Introductory Meteorology.
2. 3 years' experience at the community college level.
3. Expertise in appropriate technologies for instruction.
4. Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
5. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
6. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
7. Credentialed to teach online with Quality Matters experience.
8. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
9. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
